Cattle Breed Websites:
About the Owen Longhorns website:
Breed: Texas Longhorns
Location: Joshua, Texas
Contact: Michael & Andrea Owen
Set Up/Design: Simple Template
Functionality Package: Buckaroo
Although, Michael and Andrea Owen only started buying Longhorns a few years ago, it didn’t take much time to sell off every starter Longhorn they initially bought and learn that if you want to have desirable stock, you need to pay for it. Even though Owen Longhorns have produced some amazing bull prospects, they don’t actually keep any bulls. Every cow is paired with a known bull with heifer sexed semen for about 90% of their breeding.
Their cows live on clean coastal field and get moved throughout the year from a coastal, to a sudan, to a wheat field. They focus on body size, lateral horns, utter, color, conformation, and demeanor.

"Several years ago when we bought our dream home in the hills of central Kentucky, we knew that we would have something roaming the pastures. Hearing stories from the father in law/father about a fellow railroaders Longhorns in Tennessee and after visiting some longhorn breeders in Kentucky along with hours of research, here we are. In a short time we have met many great folks and a couple we call friends. Each day is a learning experience but enjoy every minute of keeping these amazing animals happy and healthy." - Zach & Christie Thompson
