#3. TARI GRAVES FM49
Tari Graves FM49 was declared by many breeders, even before her death, as one of the most influential Longhorns of all time. Tari was bred by the well known breeder, FM "Blackie" Graves. She was born in 1992 out of a straight butler bull, Mr. Graves and a cow named Texas Tari FM 610.
Tari died on El Coyote Ranch as one of their top producing female embryo donors. At age 17 she measured 79 7/8" TTT and 87 5/8" TH. Her legacy lives on through such outstanding progeny as Tari's Transition (El Coyote) and Eternally Tari (El Coyote).
The Butler Texas Longhorn Facebook page says this of Tari Graves FM49:
There are not many cows in the Longhorn breed that have had as much of an impact on the breed as that of Tari Graves FM49. She was one of the first cows to measure in the upper 70's tip to tip...Like most of Mr. Graves' cattle she carried a pedigree with a strong Butler base. Mr. Graves raised straight Butler cattle with many of his foundation cattle coming straight from Milby Butler's herd. In fact, Tari Graves pedigree is 7/8 Butler breeding. She and her genetics have been the cornerstone of several top herds, including the legendary El Coyote Ranch, who owned her up until the time of her death. Tari and her Butler genetics are still making an impact on the Longhorn industry today, some 25 years after her birth. Through the use of embryo transfer in addition to natural production she left approximately 30 offspring behind to carry on her legacy. They are some of today's top cattle and are highly sought after by many breeders.
