The new Hired Hand powered website for 7 Bar Longhorns, Decatur, Texas, is now live and ready for traffic: www.7BarLonghorns.com.
Mr. Davis Green, owner, previously had a website but wanted to take advantage of the power of Hired Hand's Animal Marketing System including the interactive pedigrees, progeny that automatically display, search engine optimization and more. We welcome Davis to our growing herd and encourage you to visit his website soon.
Davis came into Longhorns through generations of cattle ranchers. He shares the 7 Bar history below as well as on his website's "History" page.
"My great grandfather registered the "7-" cattle brand in Gillespie County, Texas when he began ranching and to honor family tradition, I am using this name for my cattle business."
"My ancestor, Alfred Davis, was one of the original 23 Comanche Creek settlers who arrived in Blanco County, Texas in November of 1854. Born in North Carolina in 1824, he moved to Knox County Tennessee as a youngster. Alfred worked until he was able to save enough money to attend school at Knoxville College to become a teacher."
"After arriving in Blanco County, Alfred taught at the Comanche Community School. There was little money in circulation so he took his pay in livestock. In Llano County, Alfred enlisted in the Confederate Army. He was a Bible teacher in his church, a member of the Masonic Lodge, a member of the Historical Association of Austin, County Commissioner of Blanco County, and Postmaster of Blowout, Texas. During his lifetime Alfred Davis acquired more than 10,000 acres of land to establish the Davis Ranch in Blanco, Llano, and Gillespie Counties. The ranch included four miles of cedar rail fence and five miles of rock fence. Portions of the rock fence still stand today."
"My great, grandfather Pike Davis inherited a 1386 acre tract in Blanco and Gillespie Counties, known today as the Pike Davis Ranch. The family ranch operates today as a cow-calf operation running Hereford cows crossbred to Brangus and Charolais mix bulls, which produces offspring that do well at the local livestock market."
