Red River Video Sale - How Will It Work?

by Molly Clubb | Feb 04, 2013

Hired Hand is pleased to be providing the support for the video portion of the Red River sale this year. Both Rick and I have had several questions about how the sale will work so we thought we'd outline it for those interested below. If you have any questions or comments please don't hesitate to contact us!

On Friday, April 12th, Red River Heifer Sale attendees can view all sale consignments at the Red River Sale barn. At 6PM attendees are asked to head over to the beautiful Loomis Ranch for a BBQ and band. The Heifer Sale will start at 7PM.

The heifer sale will be via slideshow at the Loomis arena. Sale attendees will see 3 large projection screens in front of them. One screen will feature the Sire's pedigree courtesty of Hired Hand Software. The center screen will feature the Lot Number and Name of the Consignment being sold as well as an updated photo (when possible). The third screen will feature the pedigree of the Dam couresty of Hired Hand Software. The video portion comes into play in the sense that the sale will be broadcast over the internet for people to view and also call in bids. The link for viewing will be made available the week of the sale.

"Although the animals won't be directly in front of potential bidders," says Rick Freidrich, sale organizer "they will have been viewed in person at the sale barn, thus allowing interested buyers to make information buying decisions. We think that having the heifer portion of the sale with this format will allow for breeders to have fun and be social but also participate in a great Friday night sale. We appreciate Molly and Jaymie's assistance in pulling it off" says Rick.

As mentioned above, the heifer sale will also be broadcast over the internet courtesy of Hired Hand. Hired Hand will utilize a web cam to broadcast the sale complete with audio for real-time information and bidding. Anyone interested in viewing the sale on-line will simply need to go to a unique URL that will be released next week via Facebook, e-blasts, email, etc. Anyone who can't attend but would like to bid can call Molly at 319-269-8903 or Jaymie @ 319-239-2662 to do so while watching the entire sale over the internet. No registration or log-in is needed.

The Red River Sale is also a participant in Hired Hand's Mobile Marketing program which means that anyone signed up to receive texts will get up to date information on sale lots for the Red River sale. For more information on Hired Hand's mobile marketing click here.

"When selling heifers their early horn measurements, conformation, etc. are very important but much of the weight of their success is still placed on their sire and dam," says Molly Clubb, Hired Hand Software. "I'm anxious to see how promoting the pedigree of the sire and dam while selling this young stock will benefit the sale and those who may not have had time to research this ahead of time. In the future, we're considering having a 4th screen for service sires and we'd love to hear your feedback on if you'd find that beneficial."
